- 03/26/1979: President Jimmy Carter at Camp David, Maryland negotiated the Camp David Accords with Egyptian President Anwar el-Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin. The historic peace agreement ended three decades of hostilities between Egypt and Israel.
- 03/21/1980: President Jimmy Carter announces a United States boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow to protest the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan.

- 03/30/1981: In the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., John Hinckley, Jr. shot and wounded four people, including then-current President Ronald Reagan. Hinckley had a history of mental illness, including an obsession with Jody Foster, and stalking of former President Jimmy Carter.
