Major Events During Presidency
- 03/24/1989: Exxon Valdez oil spilled in Alaska's Prince William Sound. The Exxon Valdez deposited 240,000 barrels (42,000 m³) of petroleum after running aground.
- 01/29/1991: George H.W. Bush gave his State of the Union address to Congress, which included his vision for "One Thousand Points of Light"
- 05/07/1992: The 27th amendment passed, establishing that any law that congress passes varying its own compensation cannot be enacted until after an election.
- 08/24/1992: Hurricane Andrew, Category 5 storm, reached American shores. The storm claimed the lives of 65 people and caused $26.5 billion (1992 dollars) in damage. It did an enormous amount of damage to Homestead, Florida.
